Dolby Atmos
Just wondering if a Dolby Atmos mix is a separate mix from a traditional theatrical mix, or is the 5.1 or 7.1 version "derived" or downmixed from the Atmos mix?

Re: Dolby Atmos
I do know it is a separate mix. I have neither done or observed one of these sessions.

Re: Dolby Atmos
As far as I know the Dolby Rendering and Mastering Unit can provide downmixes in various formas.

Re: Dolby Atmos
Both has happened. You either mix in Dolby Atmos and the 5.1 / 7.1 is derived from this version, or you "upmix" or re-mix a 7.1 mix to Dolby Atmos.
