Ok, so I picked up a used Thunderbolt HD Native box to use with my M1 Mac Mini, OSX 12.6.9
Installed the HD Driver 2023.3 (setting the relevant security) On Launching Pro Tools 2023.3 it asks to 'update the firmware on the HD Native Box'..I click ok, then after a minute or so of beachball, my mac crashes & restarts. I try this a few times with identical results. On the latest attempt Pro Tools doesn't ask to update the firmware, as it can't even see it exits anymore! 'System Report' can see that the AVID unit is attached to the thunderbolt bus, & reports firmware V7.3. Looking at my extensions on the same page, DigiDal 23.3.0.0 is loaded fine Launching Pro Tools simply gives me the error "The selected audio device could not be initialized. Please choose another audio device" I've tried manually trashing the extension & reinstalling, trashing PT Prefs, & updating to PT 2023.6 Nothing works. What next? Has the box died midway through a firmware update? How can I reset/update it? Cheers

As mentioned in the post above, the extension reports as loaded. Pretty sure I've not missed anything, as PT asked me several times to update the firmware before hard-crashing the OS, so it must have seen it each time it tried the firmware update. not anymore though.

This is a possible option to take, however I would open a case and chat with support first before you commit to this ->

Three(!) more kernel panics later (see pic), it finally worked! Hallelujah . Any clues why it was such a fight? happy to provide any more system info you need jeff. I did have a USB hub connected during the first few hours? Could that have interfered?? Coda: The system report *still* shows firmware V 7.3. So did it update? Or just decide to work with the old firmware? Cheers
