Default Video Capture Card

I'm running Pro Tools HD1 on an older Mac G5 - before the intel chip. I am looking for a video capture card to do ADR. I was recommended the Aurora fuse-X and was going to get it but now it is discontinued - can someone recomend something else? Thanks. Dave

do you need capture or just playback?

if you ask this in the Post Surround section it will be a more focused group (though most of us read here to)

Hi, I'm not totally sure of the difference between a 'capture' card adn a card for playback only. I suppose all i need is an additional display for the voice to view for ADR purposes, etc. As well I'd like to be able to view my PT mixer from within the live room. I have noticed that the PT movie window is very small and I'm pretty sure it is not possible to resize it. With an additional card (capture or playback) is it possible to have more control over the size of the movie window. Thanks. Dave

Ctrl-click in the movie window will give you zoom options.

a capture card will let you make a movie file from a VHS, DVCAM, DVD, ect. deck
if you are getting the movie file from an editor and do not need to make the files there are some cheaper options

to the size of the movie window what version of Pro Tools are you running and are you running an extended desk top (2 or more monitors)?

Sorry to thread hijack, but I too am looking for a video monitor solution as well.

I only need Quicktime support, but mpeg support would be nice.

I do not need to capture, only output to a video monitor.

I've got a g5 dual 2.7

Please tell me about these cheaper options.

Thanks.

Justin
