Question H/W Buffer Size - reduce - increase?? cant win

In the middle of recording i get a error, Reduce H\W buffer size.. Ive reduced, then it says to increase, and so on... What is the best setting so i do not receive this error. I upgraded to what i thought was a fast PC to get rid of this error..This seems to be a common problem.. Any help?
The operating system held off interrupts for too long. It this occurs often, try increasing the
"H/W Buffer Size" in the
Playback Engine Dialog
(-9092)

I'm running
Windows 7
Pro tools 8.0.3
Mbox 2 Pro
8 Gig Ram
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor 2.60GHz
64 Bit OS

"FAST PC" is a bit misleading, and we'll need a sandra report so we can see if your system is actually COMPATIBLE (By current standards, my system isn't FAST but it works because it IS compatible.)
Usually though, this set of errors results in attempting to record to your system drive when what you should be doing is recording to dedicated, separate audio hard drive.

AMD's are not as reliabale as INTEL processors for running Pro Tools. And do you have the 8.0.4 drivers in place for your 64-bit OS?

"Setup -> Playback Engine ->RTAS Engine"
If "Ignore Errors During Playback/Record" checked, try to uncheck "Minimize Additional I/O Latency".

Option "Minimize Additional I/O Latency" vary for certain system...
"Chapter 5: System Setup" page 45.
"Suppressing RTAS errors requires at least
128 samples of additional buffering on some
systems."

So, by activating "Minimize Additional I/O Latency" you cause buffer to be less, but CPU sparkle can trigger "H/W Buffer Size" ...
