I bought the mbox2 factory mostly because it came with an ilok. I thought I would be able to use this ilok for not only the very generous package that mbox2 factory comes with(please hear the sarcasm), but also would like to get some trial versions from mcdsp and others running.
The ilok works fine for the factory plugs, and I am trying to get ilok to recognize it, but when I click manage on their page, it says no registered ilok. I try to identify and sychronize, but no luck. Do I need a separate ilok with nothing on it? Please help. I am running an intel core 2 duo with 2 gig of ram in a sony laptop. Got 75 verbs at 256, slightly lower on 128. This thing rocks, but still think I will send it back for a mac if they release their core 2 duos in the macbooks or macbookpros anytime soon. |

Have you installed the ilok software? Have you synchronixed the ilok? Have you followed the steps in the Quick Start Guide
The ilok is a very simple piece of hardware/software to use...

Instructions on setting up an iLok account are on the "iLok Authorization Info" quick link on the right side of the support section. You need to create an account on iLok.com if you have not already done so.
Once you have done that, different manufacturers have different methods. McDSP deposits licenses to your iLok account: www.mcdsp.com/demo/ As does Digidesign now, as detailed on the previously mentioned iLok Info page: iLok & iLok.com Information & Assistance And as mentioned there, the iLok will hold over 100 different iLok licenses, which can be from different manufacurers on any single iLok.

yes I agree that it should be that simple, but it hasn't been for me. thats why I ask if it is because the ilok I have that came with the factory plugs. I followed all of the steps in your quick start link already, but when I get to sychronize or identify, it goes to a screen that says one moment please, and then nothing. Ive tried it many times going with identify or sychronize and I get the same thing. I guess it isnt recognizing my ilok? I hope this is not a user error problem, but if I can get it rolling then I will take the hit to my ego.
Thanks for the response. |

It could be trying to download and install the iLok.com drivers.
Try going to the Help->Downloads section at www.iLok.com and downloading and installing the drivers. If that does not help, try using a different web browser, even a different computer might help. When it works, it's easy, when it doesn't, it's not always user error, it could just as easily be internet/computer voodoo.

yeah spkguitar is all over it, but I dont think this is user error. I installed and I sychronized on 2 other computers and although I did get farther from just one moment please, it still said that I do not have an ilok in. So I try it again with protools, intentionally left it out to see if I can use the factory plugs. it of course noticed it wasnt in, and when I did connect it, the plugs work. Funny that the ilok is working with protools, but not with the ilok site.
The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I need to register the factory plugs and my new mbox2 with digi? |

I ran into a problem with a iLok driver a couple of weeks ago, In my case it wasn't a matter of installing the updated iLok driver. I had intalled the updated iLok driver as required.
What was need was to completely UNISTALL the iLock Driver and then reinstall it, Rebooting in between wouldn't hurt either. Might be worth a try.
