PT 2020 + AAX 64bit plugins

Hi all,

I'm currently running Pro Tools version 2020.3.0 with Slate Digital Virtual Mix Rack (VMR) 2.6.4.0. I tried updating to the latest VMR 2.7.3.1 but I got a 'no 64bit plugins available for VMR' on the splash screen when opening sessions. As a result I've had to go back to VMR 2.6.4.0.

I'm just a bit confused because Pro Tools has been 64bit since version 11, hasn't it? So I'm a bit unsure why the new 64bit VMR isn't compatible with my 64bit Pro Tools system. I know PT 2020.3.0 is a bit out of date but shouldn't it still all be compatible?

It's an error unrelated to being 64-bit or not, its likely a stupidly written error message you are seeing because the plugins are failing Pace code authentication stuff (code authentication required by Pro Tools from Pace, and used by all AAX plugins, and totally different from your Pace iLok license).

You need to check what is the minimum version of Pro Tools to run with that version of VMR and make sure your plugins are also compatible, e.g. I think Avid spun a new set of plugins at one point in the last year or so? to deal with this on their end.
