Default Questions on audio file relinking

I copied a session and associated audio files onto a different drive. I open the session and the files are "missing" because PT is looking for the audio files on the original drive they were recorded to.

1. Why is automatic relinking so slow?

2. What is the best approach for transfering sessions to a different drive without encountering this relink issue?

3. Is there a preference setting or way to make PT only attach to and look for audio files that are in the session folder?

Thanks.

Default Re: Questions on audio file relinking

1. It just is.

2. Your issue is uncommon if you copied the whole session folder rather than the individual files and you stayed on HFS+ formatted drives. Did you happen to drag this session to a FAT32 flash drive? If you had regions in the session that were not stored in that session's audio files folder, then the best way to consolidate the session would be to use the 'Save Copy In' command in the file menu and make sure to check off the box for copying all audio files. This will copy all relevant files and create a new PT session all together in one folder.

3. Do a manual find & relink instead of letting PT do it automatically. You can then narrow down on the folder they are in and relink via name, unique ID or both. The way you copied the files may have messed with these.
