PT 9 HD loop crash causes Kernal Panic

Hi

Just bought a new Westmere Mac Pro and have a fresh install of PT9HD. Running OSX 10.6.5

Have experienced 4 Kernel Panic's in 4 days. They all occur when i try to relaunch PT after a crash quit. One crash-quit-Panic was after i tried to instantiate Izotope Ozone 4 and received a "Fatal Error" message. The other 3 have occurred when i'm simply playing and the playback goes into a short loop (ie. repeats a second or so of playback about 3 times) then crashes.

I can't say i can repeat the action to cause Protools to crash, but i can guarantee once it does it will cause a Kernel Panic if i try to relaunch.

All plugins are the latest installers on a brand new computer.

Anyone else getting this? Should i post my crash logs?

So i just had another Kernel Panic, and this was AFTER a complete Prefs/database clear-out using the Preference helper, after a crash.

Hi,

Firstly if PT crashes or freezes you must always re-boot the mac!!


download and run this plugin lister and copy paste the generated plugin list here...


unzip/run and wait till close window message appears!!!

Crash logs are in user/library/logs/diagnostic reports

at the top of the crash log it will indicate which thread has caused!!! for now just copy the thread which has crashed, and paste it here.

Hi,

Having a quick look there's a few at least out of date or incompatible!!

I though you had installed all the latest version? >All plugins are the latest installers on a brand new computer< Or did you copy your old plugin folder over?

Can say if this is exactly the cause of your problem!! but a really clean and up to date plugin folder is the first line of defence

Thanks for your help Chris. Pretty certain i was still having this issue from day one. I have only dragged across the older T-Racks & Amplitube plugins as the new versions didn't recognize the older versions settings, when i loaded up a session.
I'll get rid of the plugs you have identified and re-post if it occurs.

Have you tried posting in the PT9 forum? I believe they have an area set up just for PT9 now...
