Default UAD Apollo & a D-Command

I'm thinking of replacing my Digi 002 interface with a UAD Apollo. But it seems to me that the D-Command needs the Digi 002 in order to work, right? Wrong?

Can I toss my 002 and just go with the Apollo?

Does monitoring become a nightmare?

Any downsides?

Will it even work?

(I'm on a Mac Tower 8 core, Snow Leopard, Pro Tools 9)

I haven't done a hard look at the Apollo's I/O but I don't see why it wouldn't work the same as the 002

I bought the Apollo and it works great. The "low latency" menu item in Pro Tools is even still there and works as advertised.

Couldn't be happier.

DaleB,

Do you mind sharing your experiences with the Apollo-XMON combo? Setup, wiring, flaws…etc?
Thanks
