Default Where exactly do I install a VST plug-in?

I've downloaded the VstRtas wrapper and seem to have successfully installed it.

I'm now trying to install the Akai DC Vocoder VST plug-in. But I can't get it to show up in PTLE in my plug-ins.

So, first (and hopefully last), which folder do I install into?

\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins? or

\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\VstRtas System?

They go into the VST plug in folder in the FXpansion folder on your C drive. Sorry, but I am not in front of my DAW at the moment to check the actual path, but it's something like C:\program files\fxpansion\vst plugins

The exact instructions should be included with the D/L.

Did you read the pdf file that came with the adaptor? It will look for VST plugins in different ways and automatically install the converted ones into your PT plugins folder.
Here is one way to do it (this is from the pdf help file that comes with the adaptor):

*Scan only local Vstplugins folder:
With this option turned on, the Adapter will only Detect and Convert plug-ins in
the Vstplugins subfolder of the VST to RTAS Adapter folder, ignoring the system-
wide folder at /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST. This option is useful if you
possess a large amount of VST plug-ins, but don’t want to convert all of them to
RTAS format.

There is no "Vstplugins subfolder of the VST to RTAS Adapter folder".
Nor does "C:\program files\fxpansion\vst plugins" exist.

What there is is \Program Files\FXpansion\VstRtas,
and \Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\VstRtas System

Neither has any subfolders.

So where should I install the vocoder before running the VstRtas converter?

Sorry to be pedantic, but I've tried a number of installs, uninstalls, reboots, yawn yawn yawn...

(Many thanks for your help)

[qb]What there is is \Program Files\FXpansion\VstRtas[/qb]

That's the folder you want. Of course, you should read the post right above your last one - there are a couple of ways you can have the adapter work - I prefer having all my VST plug ins in one place, but it can search other locations on your drive as well. Again, I apologise, but I'm not in front of my DAW computer to check on exact details right now.

What a bastard!

On a hunch I created a Vstplugins folder inside the Vst2Rtas folder and moved the vocoder dll into there.

I ran the wrapper, and now it works!

None of this is any manual!
