tc/e is the oldest. it is the original and is a whole different algo than elastic, but when you kick in elastic audio on the invidiual track you are stretching, it "overrides" if you will the tc/e and the trim tool still stretches but in "elastic audio" algo now. you guys are way over thinking the process. you are gonna hear "artifacts" on anything you stretch to much. just the nature of the beast.

For vocals it's a combination of painful zero crossing "slice & dice" edits with the TCE tool and Shuffle mode using the X-Form plug-in. Elastic Audio on Vocals has not been successful at all with my own attempts.

Whats the difference between that X-Form and the one that comes with PT LE 8? do you get Real-time? or is it the same.

More parameter control.

The TC/E tool is not a real time process.

i use "slice & dice" along with elastic and vocalign and works good for me. i render the elastic with x form though when i am finished editing. i tried to give up vocalign, but i just cant do it!!!

For vocals I use Melodyne Studio it seems way easier and sounds great for me... just pop it on Rewire for all the Tracks.. send it to th melodyne session... Correct pitch and timing... then import(record) it back to the PT session once done.

Seems WAY faster to me then Auto Tune Graph used to be for tuning... and the elastic audio for vocalaligning is easy.. but if I'm in Melodyne already i might as well do it all there... and i think Melodynes bends sound more natural and vocal aligning sounds very natural too.
