hands down best reverb
alright guys lets hear it, what's the best sounding reverb plugin you've had the privilage of witnessing.
only answer if you've really had a good amount of experience with a lot of different reverbs, don't just say what you have and like.

Re: hands down best reverb
For TDM users: Reverb One - the TDM guys are raving about it - comparing it to a Lexicon 400.
Otherwise (IMHO) no contest: Realverb. From my comparisons (and memory), it's about on par with the MPX500 - maybe a bit better, maybe a bit worse. Definitely not in the same league as a PCM91. Renaissance Reverb is also pretty good - but too CPU intensive for much practical use Trueverb is quite serviceable I can get some interesting sounds out of Z-Room, also. Probably not the most transparent reverb, but it has it's uses. Quality a little better than D-Verb, but much more flexible. D-Verb is better than anything that ships with Cubase, but that's not saying a lot. I have all of the above except Reverb One and the Lexicon hardware, but did some pretty extensive listening tests at the Lexi booth at NAMM. ------------------ LW [This message has been edited by lwilliam (edited February 10, 2001).]

Re: hands down best reverb
well its NOT dverb!
i like just about everything made by lexicon for one use or another. realverb rtas sounds good, so does trueverb in a pinch. my all time favorite? probably an old skool pcm 70! |

Re: hands down best reverb
Remember the first rack mount all in one effects unit - the Yamaha SPX90.
To me, that's what D-Verb sounds like (although I haven't heard one in 10 years) It has that springy sound - biong. What do you want for free? [This message has been edited by Gulliver (edited February 14, 2001).] |

Re: hands down best reverb
I strongly suggest bouncing your reveb returns to disk as a means of conserving resources. Another method is to use the AudioSuite versions to process copies of tracks you want reverb on.
In my opinion none of the reverb plugs are really ready for prime time unless you do this. That said, they certainly are worlds better than they used to be a few short years ago.

Re: hands down best reverb
How can I get to hear a Reverb One? Digidesign has not made a demo version as far as I can tell.
