Default Setting up ADR Studio with a Control 24

Has anyone had any success using ADR Studio with a Control 24. If so any suggestions or web sites would be appreciated.

Do ADR studio's need tactile control of 24 channels at once? I'm asking not to be sarcastic but because I genuinely don't know. I would have thought a command 8 would be sufficient in an ADR studio.

The reason you would want a lot of faders for ADR is to instantly access multiple takes of an actor to comp the track together. Very often a director will want to hear, for example, "take five of the first half of the line and take seven of the second half". If you have several actors and are looping an entire scene, you can get a lot of tracks in a hurry, and having automatable mutes across a lot of faders can be a big help to put the track together. Often the ADR mixer will run a comp track of the various takes to give the editor an idea of the preferred assembly.

You could also record multiple takes on the same track and cut-and-paste the comp together, but generally you will not want to do that while the director and talent are still in the room.

You will need a pretty sophisticated talkback and muting system, since the director and usually the ADR supervisor are in the studio with the talent and will want to hear playbacks over the speakers. You will also want a listen-back system so the mixer can hear direction and keep the session running smoothly.
