Expand region length to insertion command......?
I'd like to be able to expand the length of a region to the next or previous adjacent region. I can't find a command that will do this. "Trim to insertion" works only as long as the edit point is within the current regions boundaries. Is there another command or shortcut that works in conjunction with the trim tool for this purpose?? I thought there might be one similar to the shortcut where you move regions' start/end to the insert point....
The only work around I can think of is zooming in and doing it visually but that's more mouse intensive. Thanks |

Re: Expand region length to insertion command......?
Use the Trimmer Tool while using the Control modifier key

Re: Expand region length to insertion command......?
wait, what do you mean?!? this would be great but i never thought PT could do this. I tried it and it doesn't work.
Maybe I am not understanding something. Here is my workflow: There is a region that I know has handles long enough to reach the next region in the track, but it is trimmed shorter. I position the cursor at the start of the region I want the other region extended to I swith to the trimmer tool and control click close to the end of the redion I want to extend what happens is, the region is simply trimmed to the point where I click. What am I not getting? btw 10.4.1, 6.9.2 Thanks, |

Re: Expand region length to insertion command......?
The Trimmer Tools will trim to the extent of the region or up to the next region if you use the Control modifier. If you want to TCE (stretch) the audio to the next region then use the TCE/Trimmer Tool while using the Control modifier.

Re: Expand region length to insertion command.....
i think there is an easier solution to your problem:
select region - highlight the intermittent space up to the next region using shift/tab - extend region hitting apple/+ (to extend backwards use alt instead). the only quirk is since pt6 it extends and adds the nudge amount to it. can come in handy for fades - can be a total pita... |

Re: Expand region length to insertion command......?
Tomcat: You don't need to position the curser at the next region. You just hold down control and before you do the trimming and drag the tool.

Re: Expand region length to insertion command......?
Oh. I see. I thought it was going to snap the the instertion point. I see that you still need to drag it but that cntrl makes it stop on the next region. Very useful. Thanks.
