Indeed... lots of whining... but has anyone tried the complete list of new drivers released for all the still active LE interfaces?

Dism,

The problem I think we're having is that in the past AVID/Digi has labeled their standalone driver like this:

http://www3.digidesign.com/index.cfm...4&itemid=40792

(Here's what it says:

Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers v8.0.3 for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard & 10.5 Leopard

January 21, 2010

ONLY For Supported Digidesign Hardware on Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6 That Do Not Have Pro Tools Installed

If you are installing Pro Tools 8.0.3 for Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, you should use the Digidesign CoreAudio included with your Pro Tools installation, not the standalone version.)

>>>
It actually states that its the STANDALONE driver in the description. These new drivers aren't labeled as such, so I'm afraid to touch them without having ProTools installed! We all know how afraid we've become to update anything EVER (especially those of us who are working professionals who depend on a stable system).

So, now I have two questions.. are the updated drivers STANDALONE drivers? If so, why aren't they labeled as such this time around?

And two, has anyone tried running Reason in standalone mode with the updated drivers to confirm that the previous bug has been resolved?

Thanks..

Well... everyone can stand around in the room being afraid... or someone can grow a pair and try installing some drivers. If you aren't taking precautions (like backing up your drives, frequently) then you have a lot more to worry about than a driver update.

I appreciate your advice and I do backup regularly. I'd still like to know if the bug has been resolved in the latest set of drivers, though!

I guess I must not have hit all the threads discussing this.

The new 9.0 drivers are what you should be using - they definitely work with 10.6.x and I'm going to verify they work on 10.5.x as well.

So to clarify. If I upgrade my system to PT 9 (run it on a mac mini, snow leopard), will the core-audio driver work with the current versions of Record/Reason?

Thanks.

@Dism; What core audio driver are you using currently (if you don't have PT installed) that works with Reason5/Record1.5?

I was trying to launch Record 1.5 on a mac mini (snow leopard) and my digi 002r wouldn't recognize in the audio preferences (within Record).

I have the standalone 8.03 core audio driver installed and don't have a version of PT on this computer (just yet).

thanks.

Can anyone else chime in whether PT 9 will correct any core audio issues under snow leopard?

Thanks!
