I take it PT wont open? the Icon bounces on the Dock? What version of OSX do you have? 7.1.1 should run just fine on a MBP, did on mine.

Did you update OSX to 10.4.9 yourself? Did you do it using the software update function of OSX? If yes, try downloading the combo update from Apple's webpage. This could solve your problem.

Sunburst79 - You're Correct, it won't open, it just ounces a few times and then nothing happens, I have OSX 10.4.9

Holly73 - I do have 10.4.9 the combo update I found would take ay 10.4.x for power pc or intel and bring it to 10.4.9 is this what yo are talking about? When I first got my computer, it ran the software update thing and installed 11 updates, one of them being 10.4.9 update.

Have you checked your Console log ?

Quote:

As your software runs it sends messages between the applications, systems, and components. This information is stored in message logs. Use Console to view the message logs of your system and applications.

These logs include the messages you see in alert dialogs, errors, and many other messages that are never displayed. If you've received an error message, a log file may show additional detail about the issue.

You can view log files in Console, located in /Applications/Utilities.

For more information, see Console Help.

Sorry, I didn't get your answer (especially the first part). But looks like you updated 10.4.9 using software update. If yes, go to Apple's website and download the 10.4.9. Combo Update. Install this over your existing 10.4.9 and everything should work. In case it doesn't, try to install the Combo update again. On my iMac it worked for the first time, on my Mackook Pro it had to install it twice to get PT up and running again.

Turn off "File Vault" and "Use secure Virtual memory" off if you have them turned on.

Create a new user account and see if PT will launch from there.

Download and reinstall the Combo Update again as Holly73 suggested

Have you run "Disk Utilities" "Repair Disk Permissions" yet?

Has PT ever launched on this machine? or is this the first time your trying?

Try these things.
