File Conversion
Hello,
Someone sent me audio files to work with (WAV). I couldn't import, because PT says,"File not useable by PT". The only thing I could manage was convert these files to mp4 in iTunes, then import them into my session. Then, I discovered the files were 16 bit /48k instead of 24 bit/48k and played back at 1/2 speed. I tried "Save Copy IN" at the appropriate sample and bit rate, but there was no change. Does anyone know how I might be able to get these files converted? Thanks, Chas PT 7.2, HD 3 Acccel, G5 2.5 DP, 8 gigs of ram

Re: File Conversion
QuickTime Pro? SoundConverter? iTunes (set to WAV encoder)? These are the first three that come to mind.

Re: File Conversion
Thanks, Chief T., I'll look deeper into the iTunes option.

Re: File Conversion
I'd guess they're IEEE 32 bit floating point WAV files -- you'll need to convert them to PCM WAV files.

Re: File Conversion
Rail,
You are correct. The files are 32 bit 96k. Would you tell me how to convert them to PCM? I used iTunes to convert to 16/48k, but they're still play at about half speed. Thanks, Chas

Re: File Conversion
Looking at Barbabatch and Peak. Both do batch conversions, but that seems to be all BBB does?
Any preferences? Thanks

Re: File Conversion
BarbaBatch is well worth the price. We've got 4-licenses and use it on a daily basis. Peak's batch setup is much more difficult to deal with.

Re: File Conversion
1511. I believe the PTMP has some of your TDM features. If so try this: File> Import> Audio From Quicktime Movie. In the dialog box select All Files. Then you can import the 32 bit file. I learnt this by importing 32 bit Floating Point from Sonar PE5.
