Default Dante Device Seen on Unifi controller, but not switch

Figuring people here using DANTE and Uqibuiti stuff might have solved this problem. Hands clasped in prayer.

UDM Pro sees Focusrite AM2 if I power it externally and plug into any port of the UDM, tagged for my default studio network, where my MTRX Studios are plugged in. Works fine. Immediate plug and play.

USW Pro (24 port PoE switch) powers the AM2 via PoE but never gets a network signal to the box. No IP appears to be distributed. DANTE Controller does not see. RedNet Control does not see. I have toggled PoE on and off to see if it prefers the method of power.

I have read most search hits on the internet about Unifi peculiarities and there are no patterns to any of them—it's all over the place.

IGMP snooping is on.
mDNS is on.
mDNS filtering is on.
IoT Auto-Discovery is on.
The port on the 24 PoE switch set to Pro AV > DANTE
Fast Leave is on.
I have a querier switch set to the studio network.
I have a Multicast router port set to the studio network.

I have toggled all these six way till Sunday.

But the switch ports I've tried (several) only ever show grey. Could it relate to how the trunk ports are configured, e.g., not passing some essential protocol to the switch?

Going back and forth between the UDM and the Switch, it works every time on the UDM. But I need this device to be PoE and this won't do.

Strangely, the UDM's ports don't have the "Pro AV" designation option, so I can't make that or QoS changes if desired.

The good news is, after trying 3 different CAT 6 cables, I tried a random 4th cable (might be a CAT 5e) and it's working on the switch. I can't say what the fuss was about, but this stuff is definitely redolent of "MIDI Hell". Meaningless voodoo.

The unifi gear doesn't offer a lot of granular settings for Dante. It's more suited for general office/corporate stuff. For in depth QoS, snooping etc. you're better off with the cisco stuff or Netgear has dedicated AV switches with Dante presets but the latter are rather overpriced, IMO. Last time I checked you couldn't even tune the QoS setting on unifi.

Interestingly my UniFi switch does have granular support for Dante and 4-5 other AoIP protocols. But it was something about certain cables in my possession that were the roadblock, not the settings, oddly. I keep an Ethernet test box around and all my cables checked out, so in these cases I chalk it up to the vagaries of impedance-fussy circuits and other unexplainables. To get it to work I didn’t have to set any of the usual QoS or anything.
