Default Vacuum VI won't Freeze or Commit?

Hi All,

Just having my first go with PTHD12.6.1. Everything has installed and seems to be working OK. I'm just playing about and testing out all the new features. Loving the Freeze track feature, but I've hit a slight snag someone might know how to remedy.

No matter what I try, either Freeze or Commit, Vacuum (the standard free version) refuses to render. All the other basic VI's are behaving as expected, but Vacuum is not playing ball at all. PT goes through the motions, and disables the source midi track and also the Vacuum plug when it's done, but it finishes the task with a completely empty track.

Bit stumped. Might be something stoopid I'm doing (very likely).

Any help is much appreciated.

Ta YYR,

I'm on Yosemite 10.10.5. Fresh install just the past few hours to have a mess about with 12.6.1 only really. Strange thing is, all the other simple VI's that come as standard are behaving fine (Boom, DB33, Structure, Mini Grand, XPand II), only Vacuum refuses to play ball.

Thanks for having a look for me.

Regards.

Guys,

Just an FYI. I tried again today and still have the same negative results (sometimes these things have a weird way of settling themselves out overnight). All other VI's Freeze and Commit correctly, except Vacuum.

And additionally I got my Reason 9 upgrade installed and running as expected too. This Freezes tracks fine also.

Cheers.

YYR,

Thanks for your help with this.

Reason install went very smoothly (as is usually the way with them. Very user friendly). Before you know it, I was right back to my normal operating setup, with Reason autoloading after opening a session and running well with Re-Wire. All looked like exactly what I'm used to.

I'm only having an exploratory look around at how this is all gonna pan out in the long run, as I'm not quite ready to try the migration on to a real project just yet (too many other plugs and stuff to search and replace etc), but I'm pretty convinced it will all be fine for this core part of my setup as a good starting baseline now. Not looking forward to the rest of the Air stuff I own, as that has had it's moments in the past, but it seems odd that the Avid administered version of Vacuum seems not to be working right. I'm starting to wonder if there's a hidden updater for this plug-in I haven't stumbled across yet. After hearing about the App manager being rubbish, I un-installed that right away.

Thanks again for your efforts with this mate.

Cheers.

Default Re: Vacuum VI won't Freeze or Commit?

Hi All,

Just a quick update. Had to stop diddling around with my 12.6.1/OSX10.10.5 test build and get back to work for a few days.

I fired it up again this morning and since I'd been ruminating (good word) about what might be causing this Vacuum issue the past few days, I thought the best option was to create a brand new session and load just Vacuum. It worked fine with Freeze and Commit. Huh. Go figure.

So then I tried opening the original test session I'd been having problems with, and that was just as fricked up as it was from the other day. Except it actually got worse! I tried Freezing all the other VI's as before (Boom, DB33, Structure, XPand, Reason 9.1) and they worked as previously, but still Vacuum wouldn't freeze. So for some random reason, I tried changing the MIDI channel that the track that was feeding Vacuum was assigned to, and all it would let me do is select a channel on Structure!! What the....! Anyways, I then removed all trace of Structure as a test, and still I couldn't re-assign any MIDI destinations at all. Very weird.

I've now tried creating a new tester session exactly the same as the original one I was having trouble with, and all the VI's are now Freezing and behaving as expected. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that my first test session somehow had a brain-puke and messed itself up for no apparently good reason. Such is the way with these things. I guess the true test will be sustained work in a real world situation, but I'm a fair way off being in a position to use this setup in anger on real sessions, so I'm just gonna keep experimenting for now.

Thanks to all for the testing and suggestions.

Regards.
