interface and protools not picking up the mic

Hello!

I am really new to this like day 1 hour 1 lol Any help would be beyond appreciated :)

Interface: Focusrite Clarett2pre
Computer Mac
DAW: protools

Mac sound:
Input Clarett2pre
Output Clarett2pre

Protools Playback : Clarett2pre

Mic plugged in to #1 on my clarett2pre

Vocal track in protools:
input 1
output 1

I cant get any sound. I can hear things from my computer in my ear phones, but I cant get the mic to pick up. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated for this newby

does it require phantom power perhaps ?

Did you load the software driver for the Focusrite Scarlet? What type of track did you create? It should be an audio track (not instrument or MIDI). Did you arm the track? Thats the button labeled "R."

What specific OSX? In later versions you have to give permissions in the Security settings for access to the mic. I know it sounds weird and a Google search for that might help.

Start by checking to see if the Focusrite is actually selected as the "audio engine". Open Pro Tools(don't open a session). Cancel the dashboard and go to Setup>Playback engine. Select the Focusrite and click Okay. Pro Tools will restart.
