Default Crash

Hello all I need help figuring out why pro tools 8 crashes when trying to change parameters on digi plugins. when I use aftermarket plugins I have no problem but when I use for instance the bomb factory compressor the program locks up. I only have 6 instrument tracks. I am running an acer laptop and an external hard drive, fast track ultra and have done all of the vista tweeks

Default Re: Crash

well I bounced all of the tracks to audio and the plugins work fine. maybe I had too many instruments. my laptop is a core 2 duo 2.0 with 3 gig of ram so it should be able to handle it
