Length of snake from live to control room?

I was wondering if the length of the mic snake that goes from the live room to the contol room makes any diffrence in sound at all. I have been using a 125' snake to go 25', for a couple of years now. Everything sounds fine, but It just hit me that every mike has to travel an extra 100' before it hits the pres. Also phantom has to go an extra 100'. Has anyone seen any change in performance due to long snake runs?

Typically, if you're running a balanced +4 system, then you should be able to run a couple hundred feet or more with no problems. Since the signal is traveling near the speed of light, a hundred feet doesn't mean much.
BUT- OTOH, There is the school of thought that the shorter the cable length the better.
BUT- OT OOH, there's probably much more than a hundred feet of wiring involved in a typical SSL/outboard/patchbay setup.

Thanks, Thats what I thought. I do live sound for a living, and I am use to having 300' FOH runs. I am still fairly new in the recording side of audio. So figured Id ask just in case.
