True! GPU's and DDR5 is hard (or impossible) to buy right now.

Even Windows OS has bloatware.

My current model is in my signature and has generally performed well. But it's eight years old, Intel is five or six generations further along now, and this system has already gone through one major gutting with a new MB and PS after the originals died. There are a few quirks this one has always had, and now that the CPU fan is dying, I'm taking that ugly sound as a sign it's time to put this one out to pasture. Moving forward!

Yep, that's the one I've been looking at. Even with a CPU and RAM upgrade it's very reasonably priced. A similar HP system, at least via their online pricing, is well over twice the cost.

In the end I opted to have the local shop build me a system, and all the guys there are excited at the prospect of putting together such a screamer. 12th Gen i9, 64 GB of RAM and a pair of the fastest M.2 drives. I'm getting exhausted just thinking about the hours it always takes to get my systems re-populated and authorized, but I'm looking forward to it (in a masochistic sort of way).

Great! What exact CPU? MB? RAM? SSD? Those specifics can help other builders here. Are you going with Windows 11? You might as well. No Windows 11 issues at all for me as well as several others here on the DUC. W11 just works!!!

Agreed. They were recommending sticking with 10 awhile longer due to a few remaining glitches with 11, but it would seem none of those are likely to affect Pro Tools. I'll of course report back once I get the system and start torturing it, but here are the build specs:

CPU: i9-12900K
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
MB: MSI PRO Z690-P DDR4
RAM: 64GB DDR4 3200
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240
Optical Drive: 16X Blu-ray BDXL M-DISC DVD CD Burner WriterDrive
OS Drive: 2TB NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PLUS
Storage Drive: 2TB NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PLUS
PSU: Super Nova 850 G5, 80 Plus Gold 850W
Chassis: Phanteks Enthoo 719
