Default Reinstall plug-ins and redo prefs after upgrading to 2022.7?

Jumped on board a month ago with 2022.6. If I upgrade to 2022.7 will all my 3rd party plug-ins remain intact? I read where 2022.7 is a complete fresh install and not an upgrade. Will I have to re-setup all my preferences? Thanks.

There is an option when uninstalling your previous version of Pro Tools that allows you to keep your preferences when updating.*
And yes, your plug-ins will remain in the same location and be re-scanned when opening 2022.7.

*Point releases are a software update not an upgrade.

If you're on Windows, yes definitely uninstall first. If you're on Mac you can either install over the top, in which case 22.6 is replaced by 22.7. Or, you can rename the 22.6 app in the applications folder, e.g. "Pro Tools 2022.6.app", and then install 22.7. Then you will have both installed and you can launch either version.

I always, without exception, delete preferences after updating to a new version of PT. There have simply been too many times when this has been the culprit for some silly issue. Recreating my preferences doesn't take too long (I keep screenshots of certain customizations), and then you're not dealing with potential issues.

There shouldn't be a need to reinstall plugins.
