Default Making hardcore vocals sound less raw

I am trying to get the screamo yelling sound from our vocalist to sound as polished as it does on a commerical metal/hardcore recording. Although those singers are screaming, it still sounds full and warm (if that really makes sense to anyone). As a rule of thumb, I double the vocals for the singing parts. However, doubling the yelling parts muddies things up and I am still stuck with a raw vocal. I know that a tube pre-amp would help give the yelling a nice colored sound. Unfortunately, I go direct into the digi 002 and I have a pretty transparent sounding vocal. I have the Waves Platinum plugs at my disposal. Does anyone have any ideas how I can make the yelling sound full and not all grainy and raw?

Use the bombfactory LA-2A compressor and squash the hell out of the vocals....then use vintage warmer or antares tube to warm it up.
