Default OT: jv-1010

i owe a jv1010 and use a g4 with no serials.
the 1010 came with a software to interface
but it hooks up serial to the hardware.

has anyone used a usb to serial converter
and are they reliable....
or is there someway to work around this?

never hurts to ask
