Question i´m a little bit confussed

Hi guys I´m a new pro tools user.

I installed pro tools le 8.0.3 on my computer (dell precission T1500 intel core i7 cpu 870 2.93 ghz 1.17 ghz 3 GB RAM running windows xp professional service pack 3 (crossgrade from vista bussines). When I´m installing appears a message window telling me for instal the packet.sys I put the route and finally when is installed I launch pro tools for first time and my digi 003 rack + is not recognized. I see on system information than digi 003 is not properly installed (error message 28 win code) like there are not the drivers correctly installed. I uninstall my mother board sound card and my rme hammerfall but I´m still having the problem. I instal for five times pro tools and nothing. I have cubase sx2 installed and ableton live 5 (i don´t think thet this programs make the fail because i don´t open it).

Some idea?

Thanks

I think you need to get driver working in windows first.
Mike.

Make sure you are turning computer & 003 off when plugging/unplugging firewire cable. Hot swapping is a no no

Shutdown computer and turn 003 off.
Disconnect firewire cable.
Bootup computer (Leave 003 switched off with cable disconnected from computer) and connect to internet.
Go to Control Panel>Device Manager>IEEE1394 Bus Host Controllers and double click first controller select Driver Tab and 'Update Driver'>Search Automatically. Repeat for any other controllers that are showing.

Install latest 003 drivers.

Shutdown computer.
Plug 003 in, switch it on then bootup computer. Wait for a few minutes while 003 communicates with computer and drivers get installed. At the bottom right of your screen you should see a message that windows is installing drivers.

If that fails, shutdown computer turn off 003 and plug the firewire cable into a different port then turn 003 back on and bootup computer. If necessary, repeat until all ports have been tried. Remember do not hotswap firewire cable.

And if that fails, it's most likely that you don't have a compatible firewire chipset as upscaps has stated. If this is the case you'll need to get a firewire card with Texas Instruments chipset. If you do have to get a new card, install it and follow procedure described above again.

Posting a Sandra Report would be helpful;

Windows users need to provide a Sandra report

- Please - Use SiSoftware's Sandra Lite application to generate a full system profile:

www.sisoftware.co.uk

Under SiSoftware Sandra, click on "Download & Buy" to download the free Sandra Lite version or purchase other versions. After installing Sandra, click on the 'Hardware' tab and run the 'Computer Overview', then copy and paste into your post here on the DUC.
