Default Invalid soundfile error...

Before I updated to 10.2 (and then to 10.2.2), Pro Tools Free worked fine. A year later, I am having this trouble with 4 audio files.

They were recorded in Coaster, aiff files, mono, 16bit. I have a fifth (smaller file) w/out the problems these larger (500mb) files are having.

When I try to convert and import into a 24 bit session, I get the error message: soundfile error: invalid number of bytes

(I did not write the error down, so this might not be exactly what it says)

When I try to export the audio from a 16 bit session, I get the exact same message.

I tried moving the application, my sound files, and the output folder to an external 120 gb firewire hard drive. Still no go.

Should I do a full reinstall of the OMS, DAE, and Pro Tools files? This worked a year ago with files just as large!

Thanks!

Looks like you could have a corrupt file on your hands.

Try converting it with another app. SoundApp will handle SDII files.

If that works then I would try trashing PT prefs. You'll have to reset your prefs, and re-authorize any extra plug-ins you have, but that's easier than re-installing everything which would be a last resort.

Just out of curiousity, do you have Jag & OS9 on separate partitions?

SoundApp you say? Wow. Will do. Good thing I held onto it.

The files play, and I have been able to burn them to CD via iTunes.

Jag and 9 are on the same partition. I have trashed the prefs already.

I converted to a wav, then Pro Tools Free would import and convert that to a wav file. It worked!

Thanks!

Now that I went through this, I have this sinking feeling that I had to do this before. This time, however, I had plenty of disk space
