Write automation to selection

Hi,
When during playback you write automation "to the selection", graphically the automation is written to the selection AND to everything before the selection.

After stopping playback it appears automation luckily was just written to the selection.
These seems a graphical glitch to me, is anyone else experiencing this?
I'm running PT 9.0.5 under 10.6.6.
