Default PT 8 LE freezes on " building edit window" during launch

Howdy cohorts! My PT 8.0.3 LE on Windows xp just started a weird thing out of the blue yesterday, certain sessions (now almost all recent sessions) won't load after getting stuck on the "build edit window"...I read one fix to hold the "shift key" while loading and that did work but disables all the plug ins, including virtual instruments...any clues why this started and how to fix it it proper? Thanks in advance!!
