Can\'t quit Pro Tools on Mac Pro
Thought I was the only one, but saw other posts on the Apple site about this.
I can not quit Pro Tools. I can't force quit it either. I have to do a hard reset of the computer. Running the latest OS and version of PT. I've trashed all the preferences etc..... Disk permissions etc.... This does not happen if I open/create a virgin session. I can then quit the program. If it helps, The session (template) I'm using runs 4 soft synths, Xpandi, Blue, Hybrid and Structure as well as MusicLab's MOL. Also using rewire (LIVE) extensively. I've tried importing all tracks into a new session...same problem. Any suggestions? BTW - Apple thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread....75955&tstart=0 It's mentioned in a few other places as well. No time to dig those up right now. Thanks, Ron

Re: Can\'t quit Pro Tools on Mac Pro
Hey Ron,
Are you doing anything else like using the "Export Region" function?

Re: Can\'t quit Pro Tools on Mac Pro
Hey Ron,
Not to worry, this is some of the new features in Pro Tools. Why shut down Pro Tools ever option under the mixing tab. You must have it checked. Also, you should go under the editing tab....New feature....Turn all your Channels green and if you tap on the Mixer twice while holding Option and cmd a Leprechaun will appear and finish editing your lead vocal and bgv's. I love it. Hope to make ya smile in this time of pain... M2E

Not using the Export Region function. These are all midi tracks with an occasional audio track from "Live." I do my composing and simply bounce the mix, Save Copy As with the cue number, delete everything in the template, remove unused files and start the next cue. I did find a slight error in my HD, just ran Disk Repair. Perhaps that was it. I'll post if I don't have the same problem later today. Thanks, Ron

Re: Can\'t quit Pro Tools on Mac Pro
If you use Live as rewire it can cause the problem. You can read allot in the DUC abou rewire issue and Pro Tools.
In my situation I never can quite PT the right way. After 10 seconds I really pressed quite, a message "Pro Tools quited unexpectadely ...and bla-bla-bla" is appearing. But I got used to it and I understand that this is a part of the war between Digi and SoundMiner and its rewire support (I use it in rewire) Digi please fix this problem somehow. Buy soundminer or let Soundminer to buy you or I will buy you both or somebody's gonna buy me, soundminer and you. But it's rediculous that people cannot simple quite the PT application - isn't it?! You should work with Soundminer and propellerhead This is what is found on Soundminer page: 1. Pro Tools 7 and Rewire and Tiger Pro Tools 7.3 is now 'crashing on quit' if the Soundminer rewire engine has been instantiated during the course of the session. Other rewire slave applications are also reporting this behaviour. This issue was 'fixed' in 7.2.1 but has re-surfaced. There is little Soundminer can do until Digidesign deals with their side of the connection. Version 4 will not change this behaviour as the 'fix' is required to come from the rewire host (in this case, Pro Tools).

I was hoping that repairing the directory would help but I had the same problem again tonight. Such is life.
