Yamaha Motiff ES Midi setup in LE...........Help!
Hey Gang,
I'm running ProTools on a PC platform and just got a Yamaha Motif ES8 for midi. Well when I go into the midi setup menu everything Yamaha ever made is listed except the motif. How do I setup my motif? BTW, I've been to several websites that have "midnam" files but the motif is still not showing up. Help!and thanks in advance. Ratava1 |

Actually you can make up a name, I believe. It dont really matter. Even can use any title shown to classify your instrument. I midi-ed a Tascam 788 mulit-tracker before and just used a Tascam DA-88 title. Or something to that affect. I forget. I sold it and bought a mbox2.

Hubad; yes, just creating the name will identify the unit, but what I think Ratava1 is looking for is access to the patch names, which is a different story.
Ratava1, I can't confirm from experience, but from what I understand, both the "Motif Rack ES" and the "Motif 6 (or 7 or 8 I guess)" patches from Digital Fruitcake will work for the ES8. You'll still need a .middev file for the unit though, and you can try my online middev generator and see how that works out for you.

Spkguitar,
Thanks so much!! Your website saved the day. Although I wasn't quite sure what parameters to enter for the "dev" file, I just went for it, did the download, copied it to the proper directory and budabing. It's a done deal. Thanks again. Ratava1 |

Hubad,
Thanks for your reply. I got it worked out. As it turns out, not only do you need a midnam file but you also need a middev file which I got thanks to Spkguitar's website. Thanks to one and all. Ratava1 |
