Mbox 2, Mac iBook G4, Protools 7, no go.....
I've recieved my Prtools 7 update last week and tried to install with no luck.
I had 6.8.1 and all was fine. When I tried to install v7 the installation appeard to have gone well but when I start the software 2 seconds later I get the error: (-48_) specified file already exsist in Libray\ in Preferences\ in DAE. Then the software stops doing anything. I'm SURE I had uninstalled V6.8.1 correctly and I have no 3rd party plugins installed at all. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing 4 times now with no luck. I've now installed v6.8.1 and all is well again. I'm using OSX 10.4.2. help! |

Try trashing the preferences files (as noted in the "PT 6.x general setup & troubleshooting" thread) near the top of the forum. Looks like it's getting an error trying to create a new one over an older one that exists.

Hi Slim,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've tried that too. I've tried trashing everything that has to do with Digidesign with no luck. I'm going to stick to v6.8.1 until the bugs are ironed out. I don't have time for beta testing. Cheers, LW |

Re: Mbox 2, Mac iBook G4, Protools 7, no go.....
The Mbox doesn't do so well at low buffer settings. I can playback a few tracks but it will eventually begin to stutter. At high buffer settings it playsback quite well on my ibook, at least with v 6.8.1 software. On my windows computer (3.2 gig prescott, Asus board, best of the best, bla bla...) it runs quite well but still a bit rough on lower buffer settings.
As far as the Dave test goes I could do the following: Track count: 32 audio at buffer 1024 RAM: 512 meg OS: Tiger 10.4.2 PT LE 6.8.1 Hardware: Mbox 2 I didn't use any plugins but I'm sure I can get a few in there. To be honest I just need this thing to be able to import\export projects sent to me for use on my other workstaions using Cubase SX and Soundscape. Plugins are not interesting to me with this system so I'll probably never know. Wish I could tell you more. LW |
