Default Mbox2 Pro with Rosetta 800

There isn't a way to set this up, is there? The Mbox2 Pro only accepts s/pdif connections and the Rosetta has ADAT outs.

That's not necessarily true. ADAT and S/PDIF are different formats. The converter you mentioned will not convert ADAT to S/PDIF, only the cable connections themselves. If you were sending S/PDIF over an optical cable, then this would be possible, but the Rosetta doesn't output S/PDIF.

So, yes, it won't work with the Mbox 2 Pro.

However, the Rosetta 200 should work for you.

Not sure that box would work with the Rosetta's 8-channel ADAT output, unless the Rosetta can be set to send a S/PDIF signal. You'd need to find something that'll convert an ADAT optical signal to S/PDIF, but I don't know of anything currently made that does this (other than a digital mixer). Midiman used to make something called a SAM that did this, but it wasn't super cheap and it's no longer available.

I am currently trying to get my Mbox 2 Pro working with my Rosetta 800 and it's been a nightmare so far.

Can anyone actually confirm that they have been able to monitor their Mbox 2 Pro through a Rosetta 800 using the SPDIF out of your Mbox?

I purchased Hosa's CDL-313 (optical data link converter to go from SPDIF to AES) and was hoping that would work, but the Mbox still isn't sending out any signal through the SPDIF out on the back of it.

hi, this should work.

are you working at 44.1 or 48k?

have you double checked that the rosetta is set to send digital inputs to analog outs and the clock source is correct?

have you tried sending the spdif output of the mbox to anything else to see if it is working? if you have a cd player you can at least check the output is active.

the rosetta 800 8 channels of optical(adat or smux) and 8 channels of AES in and out. you probably don't want to bother with the adat if you have spdif on your interface.

the hosa box should work fine for converting spdif to aes.

often spdif can be connected directly to/from aes, sometimes you need to add a couple of resistors, but usually you can make a cable that takes the hot of the aes to the center of the rca jack, and grounds the negative pin. i think apogee has the details on their website. i can confirm that making an adapter cable works fine on the 002R and original mbox.

does the spdif work on your 003 to the rosetta?
