How's that going to work for something like ProEQ3 where you could potentially have up to 24 EQ bands, each with 3 or more controls? That's a lot of knobs to fit on a single channel strip.

In Ableton Live on any track, MIDI, Instrument, and Audio Effects can be grouped into what they call "racks". A rack could be any combination of plug-ins. One cool thing about racks is that they provide nicely configurable "Macro" controls. Used to be 8, now there can be more, but you can assign parameters at specified ranges to individual macro knobs. For example, 0-127 on Macro 1 could be tied to Freq Knob A between 120-160Hz and Gain Knob A between 0.5 dB to 1.5 dB.

I could imagine a "Macro" panel PERHAPS on a mix window channel view in Pro Tools. I hardly use the mix window so it wouldn't bother me if it had additional optional controls visible in some configurations.

I can see a value in shifting several knobs in turn on several tracks in a focused mix move, without opening and closing, or pre-opening and pre-grouping window configurations. If it was simple, non intrusive, and non-mandatory, why not have more access to mixing?

Could you post a picture of this? looks interesting.

I'm not sure if this link works, but if you can see the pic, you'll notice:

1. I can put my logo on the mixer
2. There is a built in monitor controller with inserts for plugins
3. EQ and dynamics are built into the console like a hardware console
4. The buses and master have tape style saturation built into the channels
5. I can show any plugin controls I want in the strip -

Here I have "show all controls" on the DPR-402, only depth and sharpness controls on Soothe, and showing controls for input, attack, release, and output (the 4 white knobs) on Arousor. But it can be anything or nothing. This is the functionality I was asking about in PT. It would be a "nightmare" though LOL.

This type of implementation allows me to mix very quickly, and the sound is rich and deep before adding any 3rd party plugins. So I use a lot less plugins.

I can make adjustments to anything without opening and closing any plugins. I agree with the comment above about not using the mix window in PT as much. When I am in PT, I tend to be in the edit window, but when I import the tracks into Mixbus 32C for mixing, I spend most of my time on the console.

This is what I my feature request was about.

Can you post the picture here as many members doesn’t have a photobucket account and if not logged in you can’t see the picture/pictures.

Just use the paper clip in the top of the box where you type your post. Easy to miss but then we can see the pix here on the page instead and when people click the pic it is enlarges

I can see it, but it's a screen grab, so it's not very big. Let me know if you can see the detail enough.
