Correct--it is its own stand-alone software just like PT is.

It is now! In this version you can insert Sibelius 6 as a virtual instrument.

Sibelius 6 can work with Pro Tools now. Via Rewire!

The score editor is not as powerful as Sibelius 6. But thats not the point.
Thank you for your comments.

I'm having a hard time finding the answer to this Sibelius 6 question, and it's really the same as the original topic.

Pro Tools 8 Score Editor is pleasant, but in all honesty is a pain to work with and nothing compared to Sibelius.

I am hoping that I can Use Pro Tools 8 as a ReWire host, have Sibelius ReWired and sending MIDI data to Pro Tools, route that data into Reason for sampling, and back into Pro Tools for audio output.

Basically, can Sibelius 6 ReWire and send MIDI data out?

Pro Tools 8 allows you to send MIDI data to, say, Reason 4? Of course I might wind up not using PT8 at all if it seems to work just as well.... but not if Sibelius won't host a ReWire.

(By the way, I do not have Sibelius 6 yet... and would be a waste of money at this time to buy it without knowing if it will work.... maybe the trial version?)

It doesn't appear that ReWire with Sibelius 6 is good for anything other than recording Sibelius 6 playback, and synching with audio files.

This is more or less a very expensive way of adding in a basic feature, such as wave playback in Sibelius.

What good is having plugins and samples in Sibelius, if ReWire won't even let you have outside ReWire apps sample MIDI data for you?

I'm mega disappointed. Good thing there is a trial Sibelius 6 to test. If it had the capability to hook up into PT8, and have Reason4 samplers playback the Sibelius 6 score, i'd buy Sibelius 6.

But alas, it does not.

Rewire gets the stereo Sibelius into Protools. This allows control of the sound in Protools. If one were trying to create a really good sounding audio track of a Sibelius orchestra score, separate parts could be recorded into Protools, one at a time. Add eq, effects, other kinds of tracks, and you've got quite a bit of control.
