Error launching video engine

Every time I try to enable the video engine i get a message
"Error launching video engine"

I've tried everything i've seen online in avid support. I tried reinstalling pro tools ultimate, trashing preferences. I don't know what else to do.

Please advise!

In case you have one of these new Apple Silicon, bad news is that video engine is not currently working. In case you have something else, please take a look at the Help Us Help You page linked in the forum header.

You need to provide detailed system info for us to be able to help. On my Windoze system, I had to bite the bullet and get rid of my Matrox video card in favor of an Nvidia, at which point it started working just fine. Lesson learned…don’t take shortcuts with your hardware…follow the compatibility recommendations.
