copying to external drive
I'm having my system rebuilt and am trying to copy PT sessions to an external hard drive. I'm on a network and the drive is connected to my girlfriends machine. I posted earlier (see "cannot create of relace audio files" - sorry about the typo's ).
The tech recomended that I open each session and go File>Save Session Copy In, then save to the destination choosiing "copy all audio files". I tried this and got a "Pro Tools does not support unmapped network volumes" message. I was unable to format the ext. drive as it was not available in My Computer>Manage>Storage>Disk Management. I'm thinking I may need to instal the ext. drive to my machine. Yes? I originally tried to drop and drag from my audio drive to the ext. but was getting "cannot create or replace audio files. There is already a file with the same name as the folder name you specified. Specify a diferent name". The tech suggested that there may be a problem with my session/folder structure. I was able to copy some audio files to the drive but then the error message came up. Any thoughts? I'd prefer to drop and drag session files as it's quicker. Any fixes? Can the external drive be formatted even if it's installed to my machine? Do I even need to do this? What should I do? Thanks, Dave

Re: copying to external drive
Microsoft can probably explain it better.

Re: copying to external drive
Basically you have to select the drive you want the network to access.
