Nudge without Timeline & Edit Selection Linked?

I'm working with midi notes, lots of nudging, and need my playhead to stay in an assigned position, but apparently PT doesn't allow nudging without "Link Timeline & Edit Selection" being active... so every time I nudge a note, the playhead jumps to that location, and I have to put it back to where the section starts to hear my edits. Is there a way to nudge with "Link Timeline & Edit Selection" disabled?
