Default Negative Latency?

It appears that when sending a recorded track to a record-enabled track through the I/O's, the recorded track waveform starts before the track it was recorded from.

Setup, recording input from a 'bus' :
Output of Track A (recorded click) is sent to bus 10
Input of Track B is bus 10
Record enable B and compare displayed waveform to track A
Check latency between A and B = zero

Setup, recording input from Aux (or Mic Input 1) input:
Place audio jumper (1/4" TRS) from line out #3 to Aux in #3
Output of Track A is now sent to Mbox Pro line output #3
Input of Track B is now set to Mbox Pro Aux input #3
Record enable B and compare displayed waveform to track A
Check latency between waveform A and waveform B: B waveform starts ~ 20 samples before A !!!

What am I missing?

Session: 96kHz, 24bit

Computer & I/O: Mbox Pro LE, Pro Tools 8, iMac Intel Core i3, 10.6.8, 3.06GHz, 4GB, 1333 MHz DDR3

Default Re: Negative Latency?

Which exact version of LE8? I remember 8.0.4 having several serious timing issues. IIRC, 8.0.3 and 8.0.5 were better(but not perfect). Since you don't have delay compensation on LE, you'll need to alter your work flow or get used to nudging audio. I'm also not sure if 10.6.8 and LE8 play well together. Maybe its time to update to Pro Tools 9 or 10?

Thanks for the reply albee1952...

I'm running 8.0.4 and I'm taking your suggestion to PT 9 seriously. Turns out the more I get involved w/PT the more I see the need to upgrade.

Default Negative Latency?

And honestly I'd move on up to 10. It's got some features that make it even better. Mostly clip gain. :)
