i love my hui. i would buy an 8 channel expander (with or without built in joyssticks!!!) in a hot second.

No chance in hell... but it would be nice. Digi has got mackie under contract not to develop any more on the HUI... thus Mackie's partnership with emagic... oh well.

Hey guys,
There is a company in Germany which is modificating Hui's so that you can build a complete mixing desk with it and if I'm not wrong they also build in an ethernet port.
Also a tablet, keyboard etc. built in, very nice system. They always show their Hui desk at the Frankfurter Messe every year.
I saw two demos and it really works great.
The company I am talking about is 3rd planet and their website is http://www.3rd-planet.de but as I saw today they are having problems with their server so you could try another day to visit their site.

Haluk,I know that company,but they are only linking Full HUIs together. too expensive.We only want some kind of expanders.

Mackie and Digi has an agreement for Mackie to make the HUI. As the story goes, Digi came out with their ProControl much faster than expected, and Mackie got left out in the cold with a contract that prevented them from doing anymore development on it so the HUI wouldn't cannibalize PC's sales.

There is an expansion port on the HUI that would have obvious usefullness... but Mackie has been unable to develop on it, and moved over to Emagic's bed.

Also interesting that the faders on the HUI have a much better "feel" than the Digital 8 Bus or the Control 24, however with only 512 steps instead of 1024. If it had ethernet and expansion capabilities it would be an excellent alternative to PC and Control 24-- which is exactly the problem.

UNO,who can confirm that about the "contract".
weird agreement,if you ask me.
So many happy users.could be a top sale for mackie.not even mentioned potntial new users.
I played with the control24 and Emagic surfaces and you're right.HUI is MUCH smoother and better build.
So HUI users,you know what to do.
