Default Anybody Know Anything About Auralex????

I'm currently awaiting an answer from the consulting team at Auralex, to see which Roominator Kit would best be suited for my small 10x10x7.5 bedroom/ studio. I'd sure appreciate some feedback if any of you guys can help.

Don't expect much from Auralex, other than absorbing a bit of high end, which is usually not the main acoustical issue with small spaces.

If you want to "look good" and professional in front of customers, then Auralex might help you.

If you want to correct the acoustic of your room in order to mix and have your mixes translate better, then forget about Auralex and spend some time studying your room and what to do to correct it.

Usually, the first thing to look at is the position of the mixer, and of the speakers. Then, look at treating your corners. Bass traps are extremly efficient. Buy some if you can afford them (what Auralex calls Bass traps are NOT bass traps. Check out http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/basstrap.htm for DIY or http://www.silentsource.com/basstraps-tubetraps.html to buy them). Couches or big fluffy loveseat make for cheap nice bass traps.

consider hanging around http://groups.yahoo.com/group/acoustics/ and ask your questions there. They've been there before.

Good luck!

You may also want to check out RPG (http://www.rpginc.com). They have a lot better diffusion options than Auralex does. As well as diaphragm based bass traps.

I used auralex for my control room and my live room and my rooms sound much better. Seems like and inexpensive place to start, trust your ears and don't settle.
