Default Error message when installing Pro tools LE 8 on windows XP..help!

Hi guys I just bought mbox mini and pro tools le 8. I can't seem to install it. I get this error about 13% into the installation process: (its a dialog box that pops up)

FEATURE TRANSFER ERROR
Feature Application files
Component: Session templates
File: D:\Protoo~6\data2.cab
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

Then it either freezes my computer with a blue screen or goes back to the main installation page.

What's going on?
Im using windows XP on a dell, it's a few years old but I believe I meet all the guidelines. I'm installing it on my main system drive.

Usually the cyclic redundancy check error is the sign of a optical drive that needs its firmware updated or replaced.

Try copying the whole DVD to your desktop and run the installer from there. Normally this wont cause a blue screen though.

If you get PT installed after copying it to your local drive I would think about replacing the optical drive at some point when they go on sale.

dannyt18 should start his OWN thread with his OWN sandra report. The solutions are likely to be VERY different unless your hardware is exactly identical to that of the original poster.

Exactly the problem I saw with my PT LE 8 disc, bad data cab2 file. You'll have to get a download from Digi.

I tested the disc in a few different drives and PC's. The disc was bad, or the data cab2 file was corrupted on the disc.
