That's really interesting and I'm not sure why it wouldn't be there... are you using scaled resolution in System Preferences>Display? Maybe try messing with that and see if it shows up?

Okay, I apologize, I went back and read your earlier post and noticed that you have an iMac and I'm using a MacBook Pro. My eyes saw retina but my brain read retina MBP

Yes, I upgraded from 12.3 HD to 12.6.1 on Win 10

First downloaded all the zip files to a folder - extracted everything and then...

1) Installed the HD driver first...
2) Installed the Pro Tools HD 12.6.1

...no clean installation - the installation just replaced my 12.3 HD version.

Everything went smooth - no problem at all....yes, yes, yes !!!!
I love you Avid !!!!

Default So HD Driver 12.3 finally allows you to play Itunes and etc???

D Driver v12.3 (and later) Notes

Last Updated : November 30, 2016
Products Affected : HD_Native, HDX_Pro_Tools, HD_Native_Thunderbolt, Pro_Tools_HD

HD Driver v12.3 (and later) Notes

Avid has encountered an issue with HD driver v12.x installed with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or macOS 10.12 (Sierra), which prevents a restart or shutdown of the computer.
This issue has been resolved with HD Driver 12.6.1.
All entitled customers will find the installer in the Avid Master Account.

In order to support OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) and macOS 10.12 (Sierra), we had provided a temporary solution with
HD driver v12.3 (and later).
The consequence was, that HD interfaces did not work with 3rd-party DAWs on all supported OS versions with
Pro Tools 12.
If you plan to use HDX, HD Native or HD Native Thunderbolt interfaces with 3rd-party DAWs, please install
HD Driver 12.6.1, which provides Core Audio functionality.

If you plan to update your operating system, install the OS update first and then install Pro Tools and appropriate drivers.
The following issues have been fixed with HD Driver 12.6.1:
  • iTunes doesn’t work with HDX and HD Native interfaces on OS X 10.10, OS X 10.11 and macOS 10.12
  • Avid CoreAudio Manager breaks Native Instruments products on OS X 10.10, OS X 10.11 and macOS 10.12
  • Restart/Shutdown is prevented by CoreAudio component of the HD driver installed more info

Is this all done via audio midi settings now?
So if we need to adjust monitor settings on our Avid interfaces for use in non-PT applications we must first launch PT, set the interface to the desired settings, and close before using other applications?

I frequently change my HD Omni monitoring setup for non-PT spatial audio mixes. We used to be able to accomplish this with the Core Audio Manager App...

Furthermore, this 12.6.1 upgrade said that it also comes with a new HD core audio driver......but Application manager shows the same HD driver version number of 12.6.0.587, Nor has the functionality of the audio driver changed, as I am still unable to play anything other than protools through my avid interface, like I could on PT10. I have restarted but I don't think a new audio driver has been installed with this update as the "What's New Read Me" described.

What am I missing?

Most importantly, how can I get rid of these dreaded AAE -9173 errors preventing me from playing a moderately sized session for more than 5 seconds!!!

Hey Darryl, you're not alone. I'm running 12.6.1 on Windows 10. The -9173 errors still persist for me. Meanwhile, PT doesn't show more than about 30% CPU usage. I can reduce the frequency of the error messages by disabling core 0 in the Task Manager affinity box. This allows me to work more or less smoothly for much longer periods. Freeze also definitely helps, so I freeze everything I'm not editing. Don't know if that can help you?

This is now done in Audio/MIDI Set Up.

Click on the configure speakers or the gear icon and configure device.

Default Re: Should we install 12.6.1?

I spoke to an Avid engineer and they advised

1. It is fine to install 12.6.1 over the top of previous versions (ie. not need to uninstall)
2. You should uninstall the old driver before installing the new one. Apparently the installer gives you this option, but I not done it yet.

Anyone else getting the lack of fullscreen on El Capitan?

I currently am running PT 12.4 on Mac OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) with zero problems and zero errors and do not want to introduce issues. Yet updating would be nice before I get left back too far.
Same question here, anyone on Yosemite and PTHD12.6.1?
Thanks

I am and it is running very stable.
Then again, 12.0 through 12.5.1 also ran stable on my machine so I might not be the best metric for a reference.
