I also think the Matchless is A and the 11R is B. The A tracks seem to have more "glass" as I would call it. A bit more sparkle. But both are awesome and it's really close.

Well, I don't know which is which, but, I like 1A and 2B the most. But both are really good - and would be happy with either sounds.

It will be interesting to see what the final results are - and would be good to know the guitar he used to get those sounds - because it's clear that the 11R reacts differently to different guitars.

Nice work, thanks for doing this! I guessed both right, and the difference was quite obvious to me. 11r was good, but missed some of the "tube warmth".

If you have good monitors, it was easier to tell. On my iPhone I couldn't tell which was which but on my Mackie near fields I could.

More people got it wrong than right. Including the owner of the D/C-30 and guy who played on the demo! He got it wrong.

The consensus was, "Yes, the sound different, but both are good sounds and I would be happy with either."

I am currently working on a new patch that sounds even closer to the real recording. It involves some post-amp EQ and a bit of pre-amp compression.

Fender American Deluxe Strat with Tom Anderson PU's. Great sounding guitar.

It sure is .

But with the recorded samples the one I liked best was 2B. But it wasn't a huge margin of difference. I preferred the opening of the second track on the 11R more, but, when it got to the chords that amp made it sound a little warmer .

Now, hows about a Fender comparison .

Hi!

To be honest, both are good. I would say modelers have come so far that nobody really can say whats what when played in a mix with other instruments. In my opinion it not that important that the sound matches a existing amplifier to 100%. Even if it would it would match that individual amp at that time the model was made. Especially old electronics change sound with time and are not 100% equally sounding from the beginning. I don't compare to existing guitar tones I listen to a tone and decide if I like it or not. Lets also remember that it is the end result (the whole song) that counts. Does the tone work in the song? Thats the real question.

Sorry if stepped on somebodies toes.

/Mats
