6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
After using 6.1 on my not-quite-ready new computer, I decided to risk installing it on my current system (which runs 002 5.3.2). I didn't uninstall, though I did save a copy of the ProgramFiles\Digidesign folder.
The install went smoothly, and best of all, all my plugs seem to work correctly, Waves, SampleTank, Amplitube. Reason works now via ReWire. The pleasant surprise - the SampleTank bug where closing a SampleTank session, then reopening another session using SampleTank would hang ProTools - well, that bug is gone. I can now switch sessions without the thought "does this session have SampleTank? If so, better restart ProTools" This is good.

Re: 6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
Cool, I quit using sampletank as my click and switched to digi's new click plug b/c of this bug. Glad to hear I can start playing and recording to some good sounds again!

Re: 6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
6.1 is working great. I used to get a low mem error every time I first played a session in 5.3.1, now it is smooth and stable. That vertical selection is great as well.
Some negatives that I have noticed are: 1.window resizing bug 2. sometimes "windows key" short-cuts are a little glitchy 3. sometimes scroll-wheel zooming doesn't work right away, even after clicking in the edit window 4. haven't been able to get "wide meters" in the edit window, only the mix window. These are all pretty minor. This is a top-notch upgrade. |

Re: 6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
Hi tele_player, good to see the Sampletank bug is gone...does this mean that you can use multiple Sampletank AND Amplitube plugins at the same time as well??
(This also caused a hang when reopening sessions on my PTLE 5.3) thanks |

Re: 6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
What is the performance like? Does 6.1 seem to take up more resources than previous versions did? I have 6.1 but am hesitant to install it because of performance issues. I have an Athlon 1700 xp chip, with 768 megs of ram on an Asus A7v266-e board. Using 002 on XP Pro.

Re: 6.1 - Pleasant Surprise
I didn't do a davec test right before the 5.3.2->6.1 upgrade, so I'm relying on memory for my old davec track counts.
I think they're about the same, within 10%.
