Avid Link gives me uneasy feelings from using at second one, but I searched ...
There is already a topic in "Feature requests" with title "Phrase Find in Pro Tools" (I can't link to it ). The user is asking for a paid add-on though.

@br22, you want to create the new topic there?

You're probably referring to the Avid Link post that I made (again); however, the DUC gets more eyeballs in general.

If Avid somehow found it in their good grace to include it with Pro Tools Ultimate, that would be fantastic, however the new CEO is a SaaS executive. Plus, the MC option is already a paid add-on. The $50 is well worth my time over the course of a year's work.

Totally agree with that.
However if Soundminer bring it in quicker they will have missed the boat.

Soundflow 5.8 - Audio clips can be transcribed into track markers in seconds with a single click or converted to searchable notes in the Notes app.

It would be good if it works about 10,000% better than in RX. It's one of those features which has to be exceptionally good or it's almost useless (as in RX). Is it solid in Media Composer does anyone know?

Yes from what I've seen. And its fully integrated so it's a simple search of the bin. I've asked an editor to find words for me to save me shuttling through takes.

I actually haven't bothered to try RX for this so I can't compare.

Good to know.

Search is definitely one of the potential real benefits, finding an alt use of a word somewhere in your timeline would be terrific.

I use Kraken for word search.

The feature request section of the AVID Link is a joke.

This is turning into quite the thread, which is awesome.

You're right about the Avid Link Feature Request - it's wasted breath.

Again, the dialogue search features in Soundminer Pro and Kraken are $900 and live outside Pro Tools.

Now that ARA has taken shape, a PhraseFind add-on would be fully in house, streamlined and woven directly into Pro Tools without needing yet another application to tab through.

...and it's $50 per year. That comes out to $0.07 per day, or a lunch for two people in LA.

C'mon Avid, we know you're watching this.

If the feature were tied to the PT subs / active support plan, this would be quite an inducement to stay current for post customers. I'm resting at the moment, good as some of the freebies are I have alternates with permanent licenses for them all, so I don't really miss out. This sort of thing would be a bit of a gamechanger for some.
