ProTools messing up audio when importing video

I’m experiencing an odd issue that I haven’t seen before...

I have a 45 minute .dv file (that has correct, in sync audio in it) at 48k 29.97 - when i play the quicktime using quicktime player, it is fine - (I created the .dv file myself from a .mov - set to NTSC 48k - keep audio locked - all the usual settings - and when I play the .dv all is good...)

I create a new session on my video playback rig (ProTools LE 7.3.1 cs4 with DV toolkit 2 - at 48k 29.97fps - set to internal clock - with a 002rack) - and I set the session start time, then import this video file, and tell it to place the video at session start time, and import the audio.

I’ve tried this 4 times now.... when it has finished, the audio is all garbled, as if it is playing back too fast.... and it is all out of sync - significantly.

any ideas?

Yes - I trashed preferences, and restarted.... and tried a fresh session - twice... no luck.

i suspect it might be a cs4 issue - ?

I had this last week and found I needed to export the audio to an AIFF in Quicktime, then import it into the session and it was fine....I was working in PAL 25fps on an HD system. Sometimes I don't have the problem, so I suspect it's something to do with certain types of QT files and how they were created.

so..... ok it seems to be cs4 - but only PPC - not Intel

i just did it on my Mac Pro - exact same .dv file - and it worked perfectly....

but on my g5 - no good.

so a bug in PPC 7.3.1 cs4 - LE
