Default Running Two Loops

The title of this thread may lead you to think "what is this guy talking out?" or "This is a linear based program noob, you cant have two loops going on thats ludacris" or "don't be bringin' that blasphemy around here foo'" All of these assumptions would bring you to realize that this is definitely not what I am talking about, but not before you metaphorically stubbed your proverbial toe.

I want to have two pro tools sessions playing loops at the same speed... starting at the same time. That way if I run out of audio tracks on my first pro tools instance, I can use the other one.

You can slave one interface to the other via midi so whenyou hit play on one system, it initiates playback of the second system. I prefer mtc over midi clock though. Just add a bar or two of blank pre roll to both systems to allow a few seconds for them to sync.

With MTC I still have to put one online though... this will disable my ability to loop... I suppose I could quickly take it offline and then loop it?

No it won't. I loop my mpc with mtc all the time. If you actually want it to loop, on your main system just highlight the spot you want looped and hit play. Make sure loop playback is set. If you are just looping a beat, you can leave the pre roll off. The first few seconds of the audio won't play because that's when the synching is being done. But when it loops back around the entire loop will play over and over. Try it.
