Default bounced mp3 file longer than source file

Hi.

We've just had PT7 installed. I had a weird thing happen today. Anyone seen this or could tell me what's up?

A :30 second stereo mix in PT7, when bounced to mp3 (192 kbps, highest quality), turns out to be 1:54 minutes long, with the selected audio as the first 30 seconds of the mp3, then 1:24 seconds of silence.

Other mp3's I'd made all day were cool, only difference with the problem bounce being a longer file name.

So, I abbreviated the file name to less than 30 characters and all is fine. No warnings about long file names appeared. An AIFF bounced from the same 30 second source was fine with the longer file name. The long mp3 sounded fine, just with a minute and a half of bonus silence.

Eh?

Thanks for any input.

I had this yesterday as well.
Exported 30 sec file as MP3 and it turned into a 2 meg over a minute long file. Strange.
File name was 29 characters long and 33 with extension.
I fixed it buy converting in iTunes.

Hi,

just to let you know that I noticed that when I choose different bitrates (192-256-320kbps), the size of the
file remains always the same one and is half the size of the corresponding AIFF file.
For me the file name lenght didn't change anything, so I used Amadeus to convert to mp3.

Have a nice day.
